- Critical drawing verification, modification and creation for twelve (12) compressor stations, including both gas turbine and electric drivers, to capture system evolutions spanning over 65-years

We eagerly approached this project with a highly skilled team of four (4) engineers/designers to conduct a walkdown effort to document and develop accurate P&IDs and critical drawings. Working directly with site operations personnel was an essential step to fully understand the station and its history. Our team approached this project systematically starting with major systems by area, documenting all piping systems, identifying all branch connections, valves, inline components, tubing, instruments, meters, equipment, building penetrations, above ground and below ground penetrations, reliefs, pipe sizes, and piping materials. Although this large and complex facility provided significant coordination challenges, clear communication and collaboration between all team members prevailed.
Our team utilized cloud based digital markup technology to capture redline drawing markups, which were uploaded in real-time to start and maintain the drawing creation process efficiently. This process consisted of reviewing/confirming existing physical underground drawings, organizing all the site collected data, and review the station I/O list to create new CAD P&IDs to meet client standards. Over 6,800 site photos were taken during the 9-day visit. These photos were organized by area and used for verification throughout the drawing creation process, reducing the need to revisit the site to a single verification check after the 60% design submittal.
To maintain safe field operations, our team coordinated closely with site operations, including safety check-ins throughout the duration of their visit. Ultimately this project was successfully completed with zero safety incidents and did not interrupt start up and shutdown of compressors or station piping blow down activities.
TC Energy now has accurate and consistent critical drawings to aid in the safe operations of the station and make informed decisions for future operations, maintenance, and upgrades.
