Is Enhanced Geothermal A Missing Piece Of America's Climate Puzzle? This article got us thinking! Sustainable energy has been at the forefront of our brains throughout our company’s history, and our curiosity continues.
Entech Engineering was originally founded over forty years ago with the sole purpose of serving our country’s energy industry. Back then the missing energy puzzle piece seemed to be nuclear energy. Our focus has since then shifted, but our mission to provide safe engineering and advisory services for energy-sourcing infrastructure has not.
Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) reutilizes the experience forged in the crucible of responsible oil and gas production. It may be another one of the energy source technologies that we can help prove the power and usefulness of, but it requires a better understanding and further investment. If you would like to dive deeper, the technology is wonderfully discussed in this TED Talk by Jamie C. Beard. This budding energy movement is taking place while still maintaining older energy sources to bridge the economic barriers and fuel further technological advancements.
It was only a little over a decade ago that natural gas drilling technology took hold in our country as a step (at that time) toward a better and brighter future. The energy sourcing boom in our county changed our trajectory from dependency on foreign sources to responsible development of our country's resources. Today, those technologies used in oil and gas production that allowed for the expansion of energy development in the late 2000s, are finding a new way to be reutilized for our next step toward a clean, sustainable, and independent energy future.
We are turning our interest in this technology into action as we are becoming a member of Geothermal Rising, looking to connect with others to facilitate this kind of forward-thinking ingenuity.
If you’re interested or pursuing Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), reach out, I’d love to connect and learn from one another.
